i've had the longest week ever. 1 week, 7 days, 168 hours felt like it would never end.
im quite glad to have reached the weekend. cos it means i can rest and catch up on some much needed slp.

i think i've successfully managed to memorize psalm 1. i urge everyone to memorize it too cos it's a really nice psalm and like ps melvyn said, psalm 1 sets the tone for the entire book of psalms.
though alot of the psalms are similar, i guess they each have their own uniqueness and i believe God is trying to tell us smth different in every psalm.

the psalms i've read this week are basically abt these: praising God, crying out to Him in our times of need, finding refuge in Him, asking Him to help us live according to His will, tt everything we are, do, think, or say will please and glorify Him, and most of all telling Him how wonderful and how much we are in love with Him.
well, i guess all the psalms are abt these anw.

one thing im trying to learn and i think everyone shd learn from psalms is the art of praying.
david really sets a good example as to how we shd pray to the Lord, with a sincere and contrite heart.

i shall end here. if u wanna know why my week has been crazy in a "non-fun" way pls do ask me yourself.

-tzup wishing u a blessed sabbath year ahead

week 2 of 2008

it's been a boring week, and me falling sick on the last 2 days of the academic week is absolutely horrible..

either way, im here to write on my weekly devotion..
for some strange reason, i still write my dates as 07...

last night, i woke up at 530 and did not slp again till 7 in the morn.. i couldnt slp, was running fever, 38.5 degrees.. i took some panadol and then sat up in my kitchen and flipped my bible to Isaiah 54, but instead, Isaiah 53 caught my eye instead.. it was a short passage that was highlighted! (i guess that was why it caught my eye)

"4 Surely he took up our infirmities
and carried our sorrows,
yet we consider him stricken by God,
smitten by him, and afflicted.
5 But he was pierced for our
transgressions,
he was crushed for our iniquities;
the punishment that brought us peace
was upon him,
and by his wounds we are healed.
6 We all, like sheep, have gone astray,
each of us has turned to his own way;
the Lord has laid on him
the iniquity of us all."

-Isaiah 53:4-6

i read the whole entire chapter though, and i found it to fit pretty well into my situation right now. I felt so horrible the last 2 days that i did not come back to reflect on the two psalms (9&10) that now i have quite abit of catching up to do..

it was verse 5 that was highlighted in my bible, that was really an encouragement for me. that i have in the Lord, healing.

this is what this passage has on me, i suggest that all who reads my post read the entire chapter of Isaiah 53, and that the Lord will have a special word for you in it.

God bless
     with love

Amen

First week In ITE

I would say was not really good as i thought it would be.

First day we had talks by lecture sharing about the ITE
then break, a fter break is talk.

I shall not say what happen everyday. Cause is going to be boring

Thursday we had cca open house.

Oh yes i choice library as my cca and engineers club.

Just to let u know my school ends at 5pm. So is like damn tired
Almost want to fell asleep when the lecture or teacher's were sharing.

I did not really get to know any friends yet or mix around.

I Thought they were not friendly. But after a few days
i mix around and asked what are their names. So we became friends haha....

I do regret taking electroincs at first. But now i have change my mindset and i am going to work hard to go to poly which second year i have to scored GPA 4 to get into a poly. The teacher said it will not be easy and is not hard. Is the matter we want to study hard and work for the goal so i have made my choice to work hard and do well for my exams.

But the bad thing is the teacher said if we want to go poly we will have to burn our holidays which means i will not be having holidays.

It has been a tiring week for me. Have to get used to the long hours of schooling.

Lesson will be starting next week.

I manage to read psalms everyday but dont quite understand what it is trying to tell me.

ITE is really different from secondary school life.

Really miss my life in school.

So treasure ur school days.

God bless you.

sorry if there is any errors.

Bible reading

I read Ecclesiastes 1 to 4 and i felt that i should share my thoughts with the people out there. It says that worldly enjoyments are not useful and also they do not help us in our growth or in our walk in the Lord.
It is written that there is a time for everything, it only proves to say that we should have a proper management of our time, setting time aside to participate in all of life's activities but during which, we should never neglect our duty.
I also feel that we should not be alone, showing out what you feel can also be a means of showing that you are not hostile to others hereby encouraging others that they can be open to you.
This is the end and i hope that these meditations will give readers something to think about.

New Year Resolutions

This is the year to ask BIG.
not exactly the kinda thing you'd expect in the year of the sabbath.
after all, the year of victory is over.
BUT VICTORY IS NOT OVER.
i finally understand tt the only way to claim victory is when we are walking right with the God.
just like the israelites in the old testament isnt it?
whenever they walk right with God, God's hand is upon them, and there is no giant they cannot overcome.
likewise, the year of the sabbath can also be a year of great things, because we put God where he belongs- first.
so here are my goals for this year:

-42 points in academics
-defy all odds to finally overcome rjc in the hockey finals, clinching the 1st ever hockey gold in the history of acsi
-top 20 for cross country in the year 5/6 category
-to serve the school well in the student council? (still praying abt it)
-finish my EE
-get chinese B done with, 7 points, no excuses
-to go through the entire year without complaining abt things i have no control over
-to be there for anyone who needs me
-to become another man after God's own heart
-to be able to stay happy always and find true rest in God

today is a holiday. =)
read the newspapers to find out why.
yesterday was a good day.
belief and motivation hit sky-high.
i believe God will use me to change many things this year, for the better..

God bless.

My personal understanding for Psalm 2

The nations, kings of the earth and rulers mentioned in verses 1 to 3 basically refers to the kingdom of the darkness on this planet. Ever since the fall of man, Satan has total control and influence over mankind and can therefore manipulate and exert influence over the thoughts and behavior of human kings and rulers (Eph 6:12 says very clearly that our war is a spiritual one against the forces of darkness). We usually don't look at Psalms from a spiritual point of view, but Ps 2 predicts how Satan will gather his allies for a final showdown with God and Jesus as mentioned in Daniel & Revelation. Ps 2 basically sums up it all, stating simply how the enemies of God will fail their ploy and how the entire kingdom of God will be eventually handed over to Jesus. The Anointed One mentioned here is none other than the Lord Jesus himself, since during His baptism God declared from heaven that he is His Son. Blessed are all who take refuge in Him is written to assure us who trusted in Jesus that we will be safe with Him.

Hope this will give u a better understanding & appreciation of Ps 2 :) Different Psalms take on different format and u need to ask God to enrich your spirit with what is written.

Israel (cont'd)

grp photo at the temple mt in jerusalem
rock on young ppl!
somewhere.. LOL..
grp photo outside cave 11 at qumran

spot the difference! haha.

if ur wondering where all these pics suddenly came from, it's from a photo album website.

if u wanna view more of these pics which are like cao better den the one's my family took,

u can ask me personally for the link, username and password.

there are like a total of 700 plus.

i wanna thank uncle edward who took all the photos for his expertise and efforts in compiling them for the grp. many of his pictures include candid shots and stuff so there's alot of new things to see.

fyi, there are probably another 1000 plus more pics tt i still dont have cos the other photographer, uncle sy, has been very busy travelling as part of his job.

and for some strange reason, my mum has been bumping into alot of our tourmates ever since we came back, and there's like talk of a reunion and even another trip as an entire grp again with ps quek to turkey where the churches related to paul are as well as to other parts of israel which we missed out on!

hopefully if everyone's serious abt it, we can have it before i go to army. LOL. now tt'll be so very exciting. =)

i so miss israel!!! ><

oh. and quiet time this weekhas been gd. managed to make time to read a psalm everyday and i find it a real blessing to be able to get the day right with God. yay psalms!
